It even allows you to "trash" pieces but still saves them in its own trash so you can go back to them later for reference or to salvage them. I tried Mellel, which is good, but Scrivener uses a slightly different approach which is more in line with the way I would like to work. Not only that Scrivener is much more polished visually and includes a built in tutorial teaching you how to quickly ramp up to really use the application much faster than anything else with its feature set that I have seen.
I am very impressed by it and intend on buying it ASAP. In a word, "Wow! I can't think of any more features to pack into this application. I did it in openoffice and word openoffice on my netbook and word on my old pc. Formatting and keeping track of layouts and such in very large word document was a bear to say the least. I wish I would have known about Scrivener 2. The other software I recently bought wasn't pretty and intuitive like Scrivener 2. It made me realize that you don't have to use ALL of the writing options within the program, but rather just what makes sense to you personally.
I like outlines and not notecards, so I use the outline feature and ignore the notecards options, etc I gave it a 4 out of 5 on the Ease of Use because while the program itself is cake to write in, the importing and exporting options can get confusing.
For example I tried to import my old book into the program and it did not turn out perfectly. But it really wasn't that big of a deal. I just went into my openoffice document and copied Chapter 1 to Chapter 1 in Scrivener 2. It took me about 10 minutes to copy and paste each section into the program. Now I can edit the old book and make updates I've been wanting to make to then release it as an epub for kindle and such. If you are a writer, you want this program!
