Virtual Families is a Sims-like casual game, where you adopt a virtual person, and nurture them through their life and career. This demo lets you play uninhibited for an hour. First you have to pick an person, who then moves immediately into a house. While you can make adjustments to the house over time, to begin with you get what you're given. Marriage and babies will soon follow moving in.
You can let your virtual family act by itself, encourage good behavior, or sometimes affect it directly by picking them up and placing them near things. If you place someone near the garbage, they'll take it out. Place them near the shower and they'll take one, and so on. There is much less customization than is normal in this type of game, and you will feel more like you are influencing things rather than controlling them. The behavior of your virtual family is a bit odd, and their interaction with the house sometimes looks strange.
The graphics in general won't win any awards, with jerky sprites and flat looking backgrounds. The sound effects are minimal, but effective. Overall, this is a very casual game, which will appeal to younger players who don't miss the personalization other games offer. I have played all of the virtual villagers series and always enjoyed this real time game in which I could play for an hour or two at a time or check in 10 minutes a day when I have a busy week.
This is time consuming to beat and the puzzles are very difficult. This differs from the rest of the series in that you are on an island already occupied by "Heathen" villagers that restrict your movement on the island with their aggression. You must slowly convert the heathens with your new skill of "Devotion" into believers to gain access to vital portions of the island one by one.
Your villagers also earn divine powers based on population that can do things like spawn butterflies, create lightning or rain, revive a villager from the dead and even regress an elder back to childhood with their skills intact.
This is the only game of the series that I played long after I beat all the puzzles to earn every trophy in the game and even set a personal goal of breeding villagers maxed in all skills until I had each and every unique looking male and female in my little perfect utopia.
Best of the bunch I would recommend this to anyone! Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by mohaganyeclipse from Always A Favorite! I'm an avid fan of the VV series and I really look forward to any new games from this developer, so I hope we'll see another one soon!
I enjoy discovering the secrets of the islands as each game is unique in what there is for your villagers to figure out excepting the hunt for food that is. These games are in real-time play so they can leave them for a day or two, depending on what speed its set at.
Its important to always check on them to make sure they haven't all starved to death or something because then you'll have to start over, thats happened to me on several occasions so I know I'm not village chieftain material :. Rated 5 out of 5 by sarasally from Amazing! I love the challenge but why is there 5 virtual villagers and when they are made by the same company only 2 virtual families.
I like virtual families a bit better so I want to see more of them. I love all the virtual villagers and hope you continue making them. This and The Lost Children are probably my favorites. Rated 5 out of 5 by virtualchema from Challenging, time-consuming, yet fun! Well, it's not really that interactive, but kind of. I actually bought the tree of life one because it was so interesting.
And I completed the game. The fun thing is that even after you have completed the game, which technically means you solved all of the puzzles, there is still more to the game than that. This just means that your village should have no more worries. But that isn't a bad thing if you like challenges. I admit, I use walkthroughs. Well, you kind of have too. But even if you have the right instruction, you still have to put some effort into getting everything right so you can complete each puzzle.
Totally not important but I named my village SoulKeep, lol. It makes me their god muahahahah ;D I recommend that when you have time to be on the computer that you set the game speed to fast, because the villagers work pretty slow until you have enough learning or science Tech and stuff. When you're away for like a couple of hours, just set the speed on normal.
When you're away for like 6 hours set it on slow. If you're gonna be away for days you might aswell set it on pause This applies to all of the games in this series.
In this game there are these masked people called Heathens. This is a new feature. And they don't like your 5 or 6? Virtual Villagers is an amazing game! I started playing when I was around nine, and now if I see a an add saying a download is available , I just do it! Its the perfect game for people who like to strategize! Love my little villagers and enjoy each of their accomplishments. The Big Fish Guarantee: Quality tested and virus free.
